Because of the importance of knowledge in modern economies, university research has become more relevant as a source of innovation and thus competitiveness. UCP assumes the role of Pakistan’s intellectual powerhouse, generating intellectual properties and applied research-based projects with societal impact for the industry. This intellectual work is then disseminated into the industry via spin-offs and licensing to existing industries. It focuses on promoting existing university innovations in local industry while maintaining a clear path from scientific results to commercial exploitation. The process of commercializing university intellectual property has begun with the licensing of several IPRs. Efforts are now being made in concert to monetize similar other IPRs / projects that have market potential.
