The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University Of Central Punjab (UCP) hosted the FIPP 2026 Pre-Placement Meeting with IT sector industry representatives on 5th June 2026. The meeting was attended by industry experts Dr. Zubair Nawaz, Senior AI Consultant at Tkxel, and Mr. Haris Jamil, Founder of GEN O2, along with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC, Dr. Faiza Anum, Research Associate ORIC, other ORIC staff, and faculty members from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science (FOIT&CS). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh introduced the FIPP program and highlighted its benefits for both the university and collaborating industries, while also noting that the suitability of faculty members for engagement with relevant industries under FIPP 2026 was assessed during the session.
During the session, Dr. Zubair Nawaz discussed AI-based surveillance systems and outlined key challenges including making video data searchable, bridging the vision–language gap, handling temporal queries, ensuring accurate tracking across cameras, and maintaining scalability. Mr. Haris Jamil also shared industry challenges, emphasizing the importance of bridging the gap between academic learning and practical industry requirements and highlighting the need for hands-on experience, innovation, and skills in emerging technologies.
