The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University Of Central Punjab (UCP) organized the ORIC‑FIPP (2026) Pre‑Placement Meeting with Industry on 24th June 2026. The meeting participants included distinguished industry expert Mr. Amir Iqbal, COO and Co‑Founder of LAAM, along with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC, and Dr. Faiza Anum, Research Associate ORIC, and faculty members from the Faculty of Management Sciences (FOMS), Faculty of Engineering (FOE), and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), to foster effective academia–industry collaboration.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC, highlighted the objectives of the Faculty Industry Placement Program (FIPP) and emphasized its significance in strengthening linkages between academia and industry. It was further shared that the meeting aimed to assess the alignment between faculty expertise and industry expectations, enabling meaningful engagement under FIPP 2026.
During the session, Mr. Amir Iqbal shared his professional journey as a leading entrepreneur in Pakistan’s fashion‑tech sector. As the Co‑Founder and COO of LAAM-a Lahore‑based fashion e‑commerce platform—he elaborated on his experience in building and scaling digital marketplaces, streamlining supply chains, and expanding into international markets. He also reflected on his earlier role as Founder and CEO of Sucsel, offering valuable insights into entrepreneurship, innovation, and industry practices.
Mr. Iqbal provided important perspectives on emerging industry trends, particularly in e‑commerce and digital transformation, and highlighted the skills and competencies required for faculty members to effectively contribute in industry environments.
The meeting marked an important step in preparing faculty members for their placements under FIPP 2026 and reaffirmed ORIC‑UCP’s commitment to strengthening academia–industry linkages & paid the vote of thanks to the guest by UCP team.
