ORIC-UCP Organizes Faculty Hands-on Training on Project Grant

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) organized a Faculty Capacity Building Workshop on Project Grant Writing on August 28, 2026, to enhance faculty members’ skills in developing competitive research proposals and securing research funding.

The workshop was led by Dr. Hammad Naveed, Pro-Rector, UCP, and focused on practical approaches to developing effective project proposals, identifying funding opportunities, and strengthening grant applications.
Faculty members interested in developing new research projects participated in the training and hands-on activities, enabling them to work directly on their project ideas during the session. The draft proposals developed during the workshop were reviewed by Dr. Hammad Naveed, Pro-Rector UCP, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC and Research, who provided expert feedback and guidance to help participants further improve their proposals

ORIC UCP Organizes 5th Technical Workshop on EndNote and Generative AI 2026

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) and the Department of Basic and Applied Chemistry, University of Central Punjab (UCP) organized the 5th Technical Workshop on EndNote and Generative AI 2026 on August 25, 2026, with participation from various universities.

Session 1: EndNote – Reference Management

Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Associate Professor of Chemistry in collaboration with Dr. Muhammad Afzal and Malik Abdul Rahim, led the hands-on EndNote session, providing practical training in reference management, citation organization, and formatting for research papers and theses.

Session 2: Generative AI in Research Productivity

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC and HoD Chemistry, led the session on “Generative AI in Research Productivity,” focusing on the use of Generative AI to enhance research efficiency and productivity, along with ethical considerations for its responsible use in academia.

At the closing, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh highlighted the importance of these technical tools for young researchers and briefly introduced the 3+1 Industry-Integrated Model of the BS Chemistry Program at UCP. Certificates and EndNote software access were also distributed among participants. The workshop demonstrated ORIC UCP’s continued efforts to strengthen research capacity, enhance academic productivity, and equip researchers with practical tools and emerging technologies for effective research.

SRC-UCP Secures Overall 1st Position at SEE Pakistan 2026

The Space Research Center (SRC-UCP) at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) has proudly secured the Overall 1st Position at SEE Pakistan 2026, a prestigious national innovation and startup competition that attracted approximately 4,000 applications from across the country and shortlisted the Top 100 startups for the final expo. This remarkable achievement was shared by Dr Muhammad Kamran Saleem, Founder and Director of SRC-UCP.

SRC-UCP was recognized for its practical and innovation-driven approach, built around real hardware, real signals, real data, and real mission experience. The achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of the center’s students, research assistants, interns, and collaborators. The University of Central Punjab takes pride in fostering a culture of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship that enables such accomplishments. This success highlights UCP’s commitment to supporting impactful research and technology development with national significance.

SRC-UCP also acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prime Minister’s Innovation Support and Startup Grants, SUPARCO, RESOLVE, and the National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT) for their continued mentorship and technical guidance.

ORIC-UCP Organizes Research Proposal & Grant Writing Workshop

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Central Punjab (UCP), organized a Research Proposal & Grant (RP&G) Writing Workshop on 06 August 2026 as part of the ORIC-UCP Faculty Capacity Building Workshop Series 2026. The session was conducted by Dr. Muhammad Azeem Ali Shah, Director, Blue Green Nexus Pvt. Ltd., who shared practical strategies for developing competitive research proposals, identifying national and international funding opportunities, and preparing successful grant applications.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC & Research, UCP, highlighted ORIC’s initiatives to strengthen faculty research capacity, promote innovation, facilitate industry collaboration, and enhance research commercialization. The session also featured concluding remarks by Dr. Hammad Naveed, Pro-Rector, UCP, who appreciated faculty participation and emphasized continuous professional development and the effective application of research skills.

ORIC-UCP Conducts Workshop on Revenue Generation through Industrial Projects & Consultancy

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Central Punjab (UCP), organized a Workshop on Revenue Generation through Industrial Projects & Consultancy under the ORIC-UCP Faculty Capacity Building Workshop Series 2026 dated August 5th, 2026.

Dr. Hammad Majeed, Dean of Research at UMT, Lahore, delivered the workshop, sharing practical strategies for developing industry-academia collaborations, expanding consultancy opportunities, and generating sustainable research income through industrial engagement. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC, UCP highlighted the importance of the session in context of the university’s goals and presented a shield as a token of appreciation to the resource person. The interactive session encouraged faculty members to strengthen industrial partnerships, promote consultancy-based research, and enhance the commercialization and societal impact of university research.

ORIC-UCP Holds Session on Spin-Off Ventures & Commercialization

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Central Punjab (UCP), organized an interactive Session on Spin-Off Ventures & Commercialization under the ORIC-UCP Faculty Capacity Building Workshop Series 2026. The session opened with remarks by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of commercialization and university spin-offs in translating research into societal and economic impact.

The session was facilitated by Dr. Hadia Awan, Dean, Faculty of Law, UCP, who presented the key features of the UCP Spin-Off Ventures & Commercialization Policy, including its objectives, commercialization framework, founder recognition, revenue-sharing model, and the proposed process for establishing university spin-off ventures. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where faculty members shared valuable feedback, raised questions, and proposed suggestions to further strengthen the policy and support its effective implementation across the University.

ORIC-UCP Conducts Workshop on Patents, Copyright & Trademarks

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Central Punjab (UCP), organized the IPR: Patents, Copyright & Trademark Workshop under the ORIC-UCP Faculty Capacity Building Workshop Series 2026, dated August 4th, 2026.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of intellectual property awareness in strengthening research, innovation, and commercialization.

The session was conducted by Mr. Saad Nasrullah, WIPO Certified Master Trainer and Patent & Trademark Attorney, who provided practical insights into patents, copyrights, trademarks, and strategies for protecting and commercializing research outputs. The interactive workshop enhanced participants’ understanding of intellectual property management and its significance in fostering innovation.

ORIC UCP Organizes Smart Tax Planning and Income Tax Return Filing Workshop 2026

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Central Punjab (UCP), organized a workshop on Smart Tax Planning and Filing Income Tax Return 2026 on July 28, 2026. The session, led by Dr. Imran Shahzad, Chartered Accountant and Head of the Accounting and Finance Department, UCP, provided participants with practical insights into taxation, tax compliance, and the preparation and filing of income tax returns through the FBR IRIS portal.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh, Director ORIC, highlighted the importance of financial literacy and tax compliance for professionals and entrepreneurs. Certificates were distributed among participants. The workshop was coordinated by Malik Abdul Rahim, Research Associate, ORIC.

UCP ORIC Organizes Research Proposal & Grant Writing Workshop

The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (UCP ORIC), University Of Central Punjab (UCP), successfully organized a Research Proposal & Grant Writing Workshop for CS and IT Faculty on June 23, 2026.

Dr. Zulifiqar Habib (@drzhabib), Professor (CS-AI) and Former Dean-In-Charge, Center for Research in VIG-Robotics, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus shared practical insights on identifying funding opportunities, developing competitive research proposals, grant management, industry collaborations, and research commercialization. The workshop also featured an interactive discussion, allowing faculty members to seek expert guidance on proposal development and funding strategies

ORIC UCP Organized the Pixels, Paths & Possibilities Workshop 2026

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) successfully hosted the Pixels, Paths and Possibilities Workshop 2026. This six hour practical session helped enthusiastic participants master essential design tools like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Led by UCP Senior Graphic Designer Mr. Ahsan Raza, the hands on training covered both raster and vector workflows. Participants learned core interface tools, image retouching, custom vector creation, and typography.

During the closing ceremony, ORIC Director Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh encouraged attendees to use these new skills for freelancing and entrepreneurship. The event was managed by ORIC Research Associate Mr. Malik Abdul Rahim
